Twi'leks were known for their twin lekku or "head tails". Many Twi'leks were dancers or slaves, as Ryloth was a very poor starving planet with harsh climates. Famous Jedi members included Jedi Knight Aayla Secura, who was a hero of the Republic. Twi'leks had their brains stored inside there lekku, so they were very sensitive in that area. Most twi'leks were taken away and sold from their families, usually to be trained in the art of seductive dance. They were also somewhat known for aggresive nature, like the Twi'lek Freedom Fighters during the Battle of Ryloth.
